Flower Power

A Reinterpretation of the Floral Motif: Between Experimentation, Ethics, and Ecology
In this book, contemporary photography offers us a stimulating rereading of flowers, a time- honoured theme: seen as emblematic of an awareness and aesthetics of the living world. What is revealed here is a remarkable laboratory for regenerating photography and its processes.
The thirty artists represented in this book put the focus on the flowers as matter, on the substances that constitute them, on the perfumes that emanate from them.
All of them embrace an ethical approach: through symbolism and metaphor, through more sustainable photographic methods, or by reviving ancient, pre-digital techniques like cyanotype and anthotype. Flowers are ecological icons. Not fashionable, perhaps, but more germane than ever.
